Selenite is named after Selene, the moon goddess. It generally forms as a translucent white fibrous crystal which reflects light along the length of the fibres – this is called Satin Spar Selenite. It is soluble so will be damaged by contact with water. It is a cleansing crystal which cleanses by bringing its soft energy to people, objects or situations. Selenite does not absorb energies during its cleansing so it does not need to be cleansed itself but it does benefit from being charged under moonlight – preferably from the full moon.
