Hey! I’m Rachel

Hello! My name is Rachel and I’m the person behind the Crystal Embroidery Co brand. My about me page talks about my business and why I love crystals and hand embroidery, but I wanted to share a bit more about me as a person.

Firstly, I live in beautiful Perth, Western Australia on Whadjuk Noongar Booja (Country of the Whadjuk people of the Noongar nation). I love to connect with nature so I’m very lucky to be close to Point Walter Reserve (Dyoondalup) were I watch the moon rise over the Swan River and close to the beach where I watch the sun set over the ocean. I also love to hike on the Darling Scarp, especially during wildflower season or after some rain when the steams and waterfalls are flowing.

I’m also mum to Oscar and Luna who are my very spoilt house rabbits. They are the sweetest little souls, and although Oscar sometimes likes to bite my ankles, he makes up for it with kisses. Luna loves to hang out on the back of the couch and watch movies. I believe it’s impossible to be stressed while lying on the ground patting a rabbit.

My favourite drink is coffee during the day (soy flat white thanks) and wine at night (especially a nice buttery Chardonnay). My favourite food is donuts, specifically cinnamon or salted caramel flavour, but I’ll also try any flavour that Top Dup Donuts creates – I’m getting hungry just thinking about it!

I also like to cook and bake but I stick to fairly easy things. My late Baba (Macedonian for Grandma) likes to visit while I’m cooking her recipes (like Maznik and Zelnik) because she finds it funny that I’m ‘cheating’ with things like using store bought puff pastry. I know she’s there when I start sneezing like crazy. Have you seen the movie Ghost Town? That’s what it’s like! Except I feel all warm and fuzzy.

My favourite musician is currently Vera Blue but I have quite eclectic taste in music so I listen to all sorts of things including Aussie hip hop, country music, pop, swing, and of course 90s and 00s music that you can sing along with.

On the weekends I love to do witchy things like cleanse my house with sage, manifestation spells, play with oracle cards, create lightcodes and I’m trying to get better at meditating – although sometimes that ends up looking a lot like napping with a crystal in my hand. My favourite crystal is usually Lepidolite but Morganite and Black Tourmaline are also favourites.

And an extra random fact for you – I love weeding the garden. I don’t know why but I find it relaxing.
